MSCI Inc. (MSCI) offers content, applications, and services to support the needs of institutional investors in investment processes worldwide.
It operates through three segments: Index, Analytics, and All Other.
The Index segment provides investment decision support tools, including equity indexes and equity index benchmarks. Its products are used in various areas of the investment process, such as portfolio construction and rebalancing, asset allocation, performance benchmarking and attribution, regulatory and client reporting, and index-linked investment product creation.
The Analytics segment consists of products and services used for portfolio construction, risk management, and reporting. Its products enable institutional investors to monitor, analyze, and report on the risk and return of investments in a range of asset classes. This segment also includes products that help investors value, model, and hedge physical assets and derivatives in various market segments, such as energy and commodity assets.
The All Other segment offers tools for institutional investors to assess risks and opportunities arising from environmental, social, and governance issues. This segment also provides real estate performance analysis for funds, investors, managers, lenders, and occupiers; and index products, as well as research, reporting, and benchmarking services.
The company sells its products and services to asset owners, such as pension funds, endowments, foundations, central banks, family offices, and insurance companies; asset management firms comprising mutual funds, hedge funds, and providers of exchange-traded funds; and private wealth managers and financial intermediaries, including banks, broker-dealers, exchanges, custodians, trust companies, and investment consultants.
Shares are heading higher in an "upward trading channel." Presently, shares are the lower boundary of the channel. The said channel is supportted by stock's 50-day moving average.
