20:06 EDT Fly Intel: Top five weekend stock stories - Catch up on the weekend's top five stories with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. U.S. air-safety regulators signed off on a Boeing (BA) plan aimed at addressing problems with the 787 Dreamliner, a major step before the company restarts deliveries of the aircraft, The Wall Street Journal's Andrew Tangel and Doug Cameron reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The first 787 delivery is expected to occur within days, one of the sources said. Resuming deliveries would relieve financial pressure on the plane maker, which needs to hand over Dreamliners to generate much-needed cash, the publication added. 2. Indonesia has blocked search engine website Yahoo, PayPal (PYPL) and several gaming websites due to failure to comply with licensing rules, according to Reuters, citing an official. Registration is required under rules released in late November 2020 and will give authorities broad powers to compel platforms to disclose data of certain users, and take down content deemed unlawful or that "disturbs public order" within four hours if urgent and 24 hours if not, the publication noted. Several tech companies had rushed to register in days leading up to the deadline, which had been extended until Friday, including Alphabet (GOOGL), Meta Platforms' (META) Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp and Amazon (AMZN). 3. 3M (MMM) is taking bold steps to turn around its lousy stock performance, but investors should still be wary, Al Root wrote in this week's edition of Barron's. The company started to address some of its problems this past week and the stock jumped 4.9% on Tuesday following quarterly results. While the numbers weren't great and management cut its full-year profit guidance, 3M announced a plan to spin out its healthcare unit, while also putting its Aearo Technologies subsidiary into bankruptcy protection. The plan to unlock value by spinning off healthcare seems sound, the author acknowledges. But the 3M strategy to hive off Aearo and have it declare bankruptcy raises bigger questions, he added. 4. Warner Bros. (WBD) "DC League of Super-Pets" opened on the lower end of expectations with an estimated $23M at the North American box office. The animated superhero pic, featuring voices of stars Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, earned an A- CinemaSocre. 5. Opendoor Technologies (OPEN), AES Corp. (AES), Edison International (EIX), Entergy (ETR), Exelon (EXC), Fluence Energy (FLNC), and NextEra (NEE) saw positive mentions in this week's edition of Barron's.
