ALRN | Hot Stocks12:46 EDT Aileron to make oral presentation of non-clinical data on ALRN-6924 at SID - Aileron Therapeutics announced a late-breaking oral presentation at the upcoming Society for Investigative Dermatology, or SID, Annual Meeting, which will be held May 18-21. "Chemotherapy-induced toxicities range from severe and life-threatening to those that impact and diminish patients' quality of life, sometimes long after chemotherapy has been completed. These toxicities occur because chemotherapy destroys normal, healthy cells while simultaneously destroying cancer cells. Previously, we showed chemoprotection against severe bone marrow toxicities in small cell lung cancer patients receiving topotecan and demonstrated in healthy volunteers the mechanism of action - cell cycle arrest - underlying this chemoprotection benefit. We are excited to now present new data that may suggest ALRN-6924's ability to also protect against chemotherapy-induced hair loss, another devastating chemotherapy-induced side effect for millions of cancer patients," said Manuel Aivado, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO at Aileron.

INSW | Hot Stocks11:47 EDT Famatown urges International Seaways to add two new directors to board - Famatown Finance, a company indirectly controlled by trusts settled by John Fredriksen and a member of the Seatankers Group, which is the largest owner of shares of common stock, no par value of International Seaways with ownership of approximately 16.6% of the outstanding Common Stock, has issued an open letter to the Board of Directors of International Seaways. The letter read in part, "The Seatankers Group holds significant interests within industries such as shipping and energy, oil services and diversified industrials. These investments include, among others, a strategic ownership position in 15 publicly listed companies where the Seatankers Group proactively works with the management teams and Boards of Directors of such companies with the ambition of creating shareholder value. Part of the Seatankers Group's DNA is to think and act like an investor with a focus on value maximization for the shareholders at all times. Significant dividend distribution and value creation has been created through the Seatankers Group's involvement in public shipping companies over the last cycles. The Seatankers Group accumulated a position in International Seaways with the view of International Seaways representing an attractive platform with exposure to a product and crude oil transportation market, which is in the early stage of a global recovery. International Seaways' share price and return to shareholders has for a prolonged time underperformed relative to peers. With decades of experience and network in the maritime transportation industry, the Seatankers Group is confident it could help unlock further shareholder value in International Seaways. The Seatankers Group was therefore extremely disappointed with International Seaways' recent implementation of a poison pill, which was adopted without shareholder approval and without any material dialogue with the Seatankers Group. This poison pill will hinder communication with shareholders regarding strategic decisions and will not allow shareholders to realize the full value of their investments. The Seatankers Group's ambition with its ownership in International Seaways is still to create long-term shareholder value consistent with what it has been able to accomplish with its involvement with many other companies in the industry. To achieve this, the Seatankers Group urges International Seaways to add two new Directors to its Board of Directors chosen in consultation with the Seatankers Group...The Seatankers Group urges International Seaways' management team and Board of Directors to constructively collaborate with the Seatankers Group and support the election of two additional Directors."

EVO BMY | Hot Stocks10:49 EDT Evotec, Bristol-Myers extend, expand strategic partnership - Evotec (EVO) announced that the Company has extended and expanded its partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMY) in targeted protein degradation, originally signed in 2018. The initial collaboration has proven to be highly productive in generating a promising pipeline of molecular glue degraders. Based on this success, Bristol Myers Squibb and Evotec extend and expand this partnership for an additional 8 years with the goal to further broaden and deepen the strategic alliance. Molecular glue degraders are small, drug-like compounds that induce interactions between an E3 ubiquitin ligase and a molecular target. This induced interaction results in ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of the recruited protein leading to long-lasting therapeutic effects. Bristol Myers Squibb is a leader in this field based in particular on its unique library of cereblon E3 ligase modulator. Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will leverage all of Evotec's proprietary EVO panOmics and EVO panHunter platforms as well as AI/ML-based drug discovery and development platforms. Evotec receives an upfront payment of $200M and expects to obtain further performance-based, near-term and programme-based milestone payments, resulting in a deal potential of $5B with additional tiered royalties on product sales.

KSS | Hot Stocks10:42 EDT Macellum urges Kohl's shareholders to vote for director nominees - Macellum Advisors, a long-term holder of nearly 5% of the outstanding common shares of Kohl's Corporation, highlighted the following points in connection with its campaign to elect candidates to the Company's Board of Directors at tomorrow's Annual Meeting of Shareholders: "Kohl's saw its share price decline more than 9% yesterday, which was far more than peers, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of millions of dollars in market capitalization. We fear some investors are selling their shares given recent publicly disclosed voting positions of large shareholders supporting management's slate and how that outcome could jeopardize a credible sale process being carried out to conclusion. We fear the ongoing destruction of shareholder value could have a terrible impact on the current sale process. If the Company's share price drops into the mid-$40s or lower, as noted as a possibility in a recent analyst report issued by Morgan Stanley, we are concerned potential acquirers could use that as leverage to modify or reduce their offers. This would be a direct threat to shareholder value. We urge shareholders interested in voting for candidates from both sides to utilize a legal proxy to vote at the Annual Meeting. Macellum believes the market is sending all shareholders of Kohl's a loud and clear message about its view on the current Board. Shareholders can take out a legal proxy card and vote for a combination of the Company's nominees and Macellum's nominees to ensure the best directors are in the boardroom. Contact our proxy solicitor at info@saratogaproxy.com with questions. As a reminder, Institutional Shareholder Services, a leading independent proxy advisory firm, has recommended that shareholders vote for boardroom change on Macellum's WHITE proxy card. ISS supports the addition of two Macellum nominees - Jeffrey Kantor and Pamela Edwards - to Kohl's' Board. ISS also stated that "some shareholders may consider the addition of Macellum's CEO, Jonathan Duskin, to the Board as a net positive.' ISS also noted that 'the company could have adopted a universal card - as requested by the dissident in February, three weeks before the company filed its preliminary proxy - thereby averting this risk of unintended consequences' and that 'shareholders need to consider their degree of trust in the current board to oversee the ongoing sale process, as well as the skills and expertise required in a standalone scenario in case the sale does not materialize.'"

Otto Bore - Pre-Stripping and Open Pit Mining Preparation Commencement: Vox holds a 2.5% net smelter return royalty over the Otto Bore gold project in Western Australia, acquired in conjunction with the producing Janet Ivy / Binduli North gold royalty in March 2021; On April 27, 2022 and May 3, 2022, Northern Star announced that: Preparation for open pit mining operations at the Otto Bore deposit have commenced, confirmed by open pit pre-stripping observed by Vox management via satellite imagery; All required environment studies have been completed and relevant vegetation clearance and a dewatering permit has been granted. The Mining Proposal has been approved, however it will be revised and resubmitted to accommodate extension of the new reserve pit; An average gold recovery for the Otto Bore deposit is estimated at 94% based on met testwork and ongoing long term actual average recovery data collected at the Thunderbox plant. Metallurgical testwork has been carried out on samples from the Otto Bore deposit by processing and test lab, with suggested recoveries could go as high as 97% hence the estimated recovery is in line with expectation; and Northern Star is currently exploring proximal to the Otto Bore deposit and is working on an exploration program which will test the lateral and down dip extents of the Otto Bore mineral resource. Vox Management Summary: The Otto Bore royalty was acquired for a small fraction of the purchase price in Vox's March 2021 royalty portfolio transaction with Horizon Minerals, with the majority of the purchase price allocated to the Janet Ivy gold royalty. Otto Bore has been fast-tracked by Northern Star ahead of Vox management expectations and is now expected to generate attractive revenues for Vox shareholders in 2023. Finalisation of the Pitombeiras feasibility study is subject to completion of the titanium by-product credit analysis, which is expected to improve the overall project economics. Vox Management Summary: This technical report outlined a post-tax payback period of 13 months, which is extremely short for modern mining projects, further confirming Vox management's positive expectations about the near-term development likelihood of the Pitombeiras project. Despite the titanium-related scope changes, we still expect a construction decision later in 2022 for this rapidly-advancing vanadium project. Both royalties form part of the Paulsens gold operation purchased by Black Cat; and Highlights of the transaction include: Commencement of a substantial exploration program over near-mine & regional targets; and Target decision to mine at Paulsens within 18 - 24 months. In its April 21, 2022, investor presentation, Black Cat highlighted that: As a result of Black Cat's acquisition of the Coyote and Paulsens gold operations, it is now intended that the Bulong project will be mined by Black Cat and toll-treated at an existing gold mill near Kalgoorlie; Black Cat is currently undertaking a tender to mine and toll-treat the fully approved royalty-linked Myhree open pit with interested toll milling parties around Kalgoorlie; and If acceptable toll milling terms are agreed, Black Cat will mine Myhree during 2022/23; Vox Management Summary: Black Cat's strategic acquisition of the Paulsens gold mine unlocks the previously-dormant Merlin and Electric Dingo royalty deposits, which are both proximate to the Paulsens mine processing infrastructure. Vox management remains confident that the toll milling tender for the Myhree deposit presents strong potential for Bulong-linked royalty revenue from 2023 onwards. South Railroad - 2022 Exploration Program & Resource Update Timing: Vox holds a 0.633% net smelter return royalty with advance minimum royalty payments over key portions of the South Railroad gold project, which is located in Nevada's prolific Carlin Trend; On April 18, 2022, Gold Standard Ventures announced that: The first stage exploration program for 2022 includes approximately 5,700m of reverse-circulation and core drilling over 20 holes with drilling scheduled to start in May 2022; The first stage drilling includes 3,050m targeting the royalty-linked Pinion SB Zone Target, with the objectives of testing the continuity and limits of the SB Zone and a goal to include certain areas of the Pinion SB Zone into an updated Pinion Mineral Resource near year-end 2022. The approval follows Moleculin's having submitted a protocol amendment allowing for a higher ratio of diluting excipients to drug substance to facilitate a faster and simpler mixing procedure before drug administration. WP1122, the Company's lead metabolism/glycosylation inhibitor, is a prodrug of a well-known glucose decoy called 2-deoxy-D-glucose, or 2-DG, currently being developed for inhibition of viral replication and disease manifestations in humans infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. The mechanism of action of 2-DG includes both the inhibition of glycolysis and the disruption of glycosylation, two processes that are important to both viral activity and tumor development. WP1122 was developed as a 2-DG prodrug to provide a more favorable pharmacological profile, and was found to have greater potency than 2-DG alone in preclinical models where tumor cells require higher glycolytic activity than normal cells. WP1122 has also been shown to have a more potent antiviral effect than 2-DG against SARS-CoV-2 in MRC-5 cells in culture.

The most likely way for this to happen would be for SDPI to sell itself to a larger company. CLSN | Hot Stocks08:35 EDT Celsion: Phase II GEN-1 study 85% enrolled, full enrollment seen in Q3 - Celsion Corporation provided an update on the progress made in the Company's two lead development programs. "We continue to make important progress in both of our lead development programs, and I am very pleased by the encouraging results to date," said Michael H. Tardugno, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Celsion. "Our PLACCINE DNA-based vaccine platform was recently highlighted at the 2022 World Vaccine Congress and is demonstrating its potential for rapid design and capability for targeting two or more different COVID variants in one vaccine. We have demonstrated a proof-of-concept utilizing a standard mouse model showing that PLACCINE can target two variants and produce robust levels of IgG, neutralizing antibodies, and t-cell responses. This proof-of-concept data is comparing favorably to commercial vaccines in mouse models with this data recently reported at the World Vaccine Congress. A vaccine that targets multiple strains at once and designed to provide long lasting immunity, is important in a future COVID-19 vaccination strategy. We are moving this program forward quickly and anticipate confirming our proof-of-concept in non-human primates over the next several months, with durability results later this year." Tardugno continued, "OVATION 2, the Phase II study of our GEN-1 immunotherapy in ovarian cancer is 85% enrolled. In spite of all of the challenges presented by COVID 19, we are hopeful to complete enrollment in the third quarter of this year. Preclinical and clinical data gives us every reason to believe in GEN-1's promise for ovarian cancer patients along with the support from leading medical researchers of the Gynecological Oncology Group. The GOG's interest in forging a partnership to develop GEN-1 in ovarian cancer will assist Celsion in its plans for an accelerated registrational program. Meanwhile, FDA has approved our protocol for a second Phase II clinical trial to evaluate GEN-1 in combination with Avastin in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. Our preclinical tumor inhibition data provides a convincing basis for this study. We look forward to initiating this study at major comprehensive cancer hospitals later this year."

The article entitled, "Sufentanil sublingual tablet reduces postoperative opioid use following outpatient plastic surgery," was published by the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum as an original article and was authored by Dr. Hisham Seify from Newport Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, California. The study was a retrospective chart review of patients, n=61, receiving a single 30 mcg SST 30 minutes prior to surgery or 45 minutes prior to surgical extubation. A control group underwent similar surgical procedures utilizing standard IV opioid treatment without SST. Outcome measures included PACU opioid use, adverse events, and recovery time compared to traditional IV opioid drug regimens. Key findings from the study included: 92% of SST patients received the dose prior to extubation due to the large proportion of lengthy cases that were performed; almost all control patients required rescue opioids during recovery in the PACU as compared to significantly fewer SST patients; while there was no difference in total intraoperative opioid administration between the groups, the average postoperative MME in the PACU was 3.60 +/- 2.65 mg for the control group versus over 5-fold lower for the SST group.

FSTR | Hot Stocks08:09 EDT L.B. Foster sees funding operations in 2022 and beyond - The company said: "During the 2022 first quarter, the Company's backlog grew by $34.4 million, finishing at a robust at $244.6 million. The Company is maintaining its optimistic outlook regarding the longer-term trends in its core end markets of freight and transit rail and general infrastructure. While overall quotation activity and demand in these markets continues to improve, they are still below pre-pandemic levels, particularly in its rail markets. The Company expects that many of its businesses will continue to directly benefit from infrastructure investment activity, including funding benefits from U.S. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed in November 2021. While order and backlog levels in our Precast business have benefited from the Great American Outdoors Act passed in 2020, we have not yet seen significant business activity from the IIJA. We believe IIJA-related funding will be processed by the various agencies during 2022. We should then see our quotations and orders increasing as we progress through the year, with related revenue realized in 2023 and beyond. The present inflationary environment in labor and raw materials continues to pressure margins across the business, and the Company has taken and will continue to take pricing actions where possible to help mitigate such impacts. In addition, the Company continues to take proactive steps to manage disruptions in raw materials, labor, supply chains, service partner resources, and lingering COVID-19 related effects to mitigate their adverse impact on its operations and results as much as possible. While such conditions and the related impacts are expected to improve in 2022, they could persist throughout 2022 and possibility longer. Despite these challenges, with the proceeds from the Piling division divestiture coupled with the additional flexibility and capacity resulting from the amendment and extension of our credit agreement completed in August 2021, the Company believes it has the resources available to fund its operations and execute on organic and acquisitive growth opportunities in 2022 and beyond."

IXHL | Hot Stocks08:03 EDT Incannex reports data from IHL-216A preclinical study - Incannex Healthcare announced that IHL-216A was observed to have a strong neuroprotective effect in a widely known model of sports concussion. The preclinical study compared IHL-216A to its component drugs, cannabidiol, or CBD, and isoflurane, in a rodent model of sports concussion that was developed in collaboration with the US National Football League, or NFL, to accurately represent the type of brain injury that occurs in sports related concussion. This study compared six groups of twenty-four Sprague Dawley rats. When animals were tested in a Y-maze task, which assesses spatial memory by determining the animal's ability to discriminate between a novel (new) and familiar arm, twenty-four hours after injury, animals treated with IHL-216A were found to have no difference in discrimination index compared to sham animals. In contrast, injured animals treated with either vehicle or isoflurane alone after injury, the discrimination index was significantly reduced compared to sham animals. The group treated with CBD alone had intermediate performance in the Y-maze between sham and vehicle treated animals. These findings indicate that the defect in spatial memory observed at 1 day post injury is restored in animals treated with IHL-216A. The study was conducted at the Department of Neuroscience, Monash University.

RLYB SNY | Hot Stocks07:54 EDT Rallybio announces in-licensing of Sanofi's KY1066 - Rallybio Corporation announced that it has obtained worldwide exclusive rights to Sanofi's KY1066, which will be referred to as RLYB331 going forward, a preclinical potentially first-in-class antibody. RLYB331 has the potential to address a significant unmet need for patients with severe anemia with ineffective erythropoiesis and iron overload, such as beta thalassemia and a subset of myelodysplastic syndromes, amongst others. The transaction expands Rallybio's pipeline, is strategically consistent with Rallybio's existing focus on hematology, and aligns with its mission to accelerate the development of life-transforming therapies for patients with severe and rare disorders. RLYB331 is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits Matriptase-2. The inhibition of MTP-2 significantly increases levels of hepcidin, decreases iron load and treats ineffective erythropoiesis. The standard of care for many such hematological disorders leaves a significant unmet need in iron overload associated anemias with patients experiencing significant morbidity and consequent mortality. Rallybio plans to prosecute preclinical activities for RLYB331 including CMC, and dose-range finding and toxicity studies, which will then support transition of the asset into clinical development. Under the terms of the license agreement, Rallybio will make an upfront cash payment of $3 million to Sanofi, in addition to development and commercial milestones, and mid to high single digit royalties on net sales.

Daniel Carcillo, Wesana's founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Given the positive written feedback from FDA regarding SANA-013, we are extremely excited to begin developing meaningful clinical data for our novel formulation and protocol. We believe SANA-013 provides Wesana distinct advantages compared to other companies exploring psilocybin, as they are primarily focused on delivering large in-clinic doses of psilocybin on an intermittent basis and therefore are not optimally positioned to treat conditions such as MDD that likely will require some kind of chronic dosing."

VRAY | Hot Stocks06:56 EDT ViewRay presents results of study on MRIdian MRI-guided radiation therapy - ViewRay announced the results of a study presented at the Annual Meeting of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology titled, "MR-guided SBRT/Hypofractionated RT for Metastatic and Primary Ultracentral and Central Lung Lesions," which demonstrated that the real-time image-guidance, small treatment margins and adaptation afforded by MRIdian SMART may allow for ablative radiation with minimal toxicity in ultracentral/central lung lesions. Prior studies of stereotactic body radiation therapy for ultracentral and central lung lesions have reported high rates of toxicity, including reports of fatal Grade 5 toxicities. Last year the HILUS-trial, a prospective Nordic multi-center phase II study of ultracentral lung, which was conducted using non-MRI-guided radiation therapy systems, observed unacceptable high-grade toxicity when delivering SBRT to ultracentral lung tumors. The trial noted Grade 3-5 toxicity in 22 of the 65 patients, including 10 cases of treatment related death. Researchers from Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL conducted a retrospective review of results from 29 patients treated at their institution with MRI-guided SBRT/hypofractionated RT with image-guided real-time tracking and automatic beam gating and/or adaptation for ultracentral or central lesions. In their cohort, the use of MRI-guided SBRT/hypofractionated RT with high biologically effective doses resulted in excellent oncologic outcomes and only a single Grade 3 toxicity with no Grade 4 or Grade 5. To date, over 21,000 patients have been treated with MRIdian. Currently, 50 MRIdian systems are installed at hospitals around the world where they are used to treat a wide variety of solid tumors and are the focus of numerous ongoing research efforts.
