17:50 EDT Talos Energy receives notice from SENER to unitize Zama Field - Talos Energy announced that the company received a notice from Mexico's Ministry of Energy, or SENER, instructing the partners of Block 7 and Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, to unitize the Zama field. Talos is the operator of Block 7 in a partnership with Wintershall Dea and Premier Oil. The Zama field extends from Block 7 into the neighboring block to the east, which is operated by Pemex; therefore, to maximize the value of the reserves the constitution of a formal unit is required prior to the final investment decision, or FID and field development. Under Mexican regulation, the four parties now have up to 120 business days to deliver a Unitization and Unit Operating Agreement, or UUOA, to SENER for approval. The UUOA will be the governing document of the unitized consortium over the life of the Zama field, addressing such topics as initial participating interests, roles of the parties, and reimbursement of exploration and appraisal costs spent to date, as well as a redetermination mechanism for adjusting the initial participating interests as additional technical data is collected. These elements, according to Mexican regulation, should be based on standard industry practices for unitization agreements from around the world. The Zama development envisages two fixed production facilities with a total capacity for 150 thousand barrels of oil per day plus associated gas. Once installed, these platforms will be the deepest facilities ever installed in Mexico at approximately 550 feet of water.

17:46 EDT Global PC market grew 11.2% y/y in Q2, says IDC - The second quarter of 2020 ended well for the Traditional PC market, comprised of desktops, notebooks, and workstations, with global shipments growing 11.2% year over year reaching a total of 72.3 million units, according to preliminary results from the International Data Corporation Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker. As restrictions around the world tightened in the first few weeks of the quarter, demand for notebooks continued to grow to maintain continuity of business and schooling for many communities. Despite logistics issues early in the quarter, the cost and frequency of both air and sea freight inched closer to normal. This, combined with PC production ramping up, and in some cases surpassing previous levels, meant that retailers and other distributors around the world had ample supply and were ready to fulfill the surge in demand. "The strong demand driven by work-from-home as well as e-learning needs has surpassed previous expectations and has once again put the PC at the center of consumers' tech portfolio," said Jitesh Ubrani research manager for IDC's Mobile Device Trackers. "What remains to be seen is if this demand and high level of usage continues during a recession and into the post-COVID world since budgets are shrinking while schools and workplaces reopen." "Early indicators suggest strong PC shipments for education, enterprise, and consumer, muted somewhat by frozen SMBs," said Linn Huang, research vice president, Devices and Displays at IDC. "With inventory still back ordered, this goodwill will continue into July. However, as we head deeper into a global recession, the goodwill sentiment will increasingly sour." IDC noted that HP Inc. (HPQ) was the top PC company in terms of market shares at 25%, while Lenovo (LNVGY) was in second place at 24.1%, Dell (DELL) was in third at 16.6%, and Apple (AAPL) was fourth at 7.7%. Other companies in the PC space include Micron (MU), Western Digital (WDC), Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOG), Seagate (STX), Qualcomm (QCOM), Intel (INTC), IBM (IBM), and NetApp (NTAP).

16:36 EDT Amazon to pay $134,523 to resolve alleged U.S. OFAC sanctions violations - According to a statement from the U.S. Department of the Treasury released yesterday, Amazon has agreed to pay $134,523 to settle its potential civil liability for apparent violations of multiple OFAC sanctions programs. As a result of deficiencies related to Amazon's sanctions screening processes, Amazon provided goods and services to persons sanctioned by OFAC; to persons located in the sanctioned region or countries of Crimea, Iran, and Syria; and to individuals located in or employed by the foreign missions of countries sanctioned by OFAC. Amazon also failed to timely report several hundred transactions conducted pursuant to a general license issued by OFAC that included a mandatory reporting requirement, thereby nullifying that authorization with respect to those transactions. The settlement amount reflects OFAC's determination that Amazon's apparent violations were non-egregious and voluntarily self-disclosed, and further reflects the significant remedial measures implemented by Amazon upon discovery of the apparent violations. 13:35 EDT AIkido Pharma CEO sees 'encouraging progress' on applying ML to COVID research - AIkido Pharma provided an update on its effort to identify compounds to potentially address the COVID-19 pandemic. As previously announced, on April 13, AIkido executed a Master License Agreement with the University of Maryland, Baltimore, or "UMB," covering certain antiviral compounds discovered by UMB. Recently, the researchers at UMB have identified a human protein complex, called the SKI complex, that is important for replication of several viruses including Influenza, COVID-19, SARS1, MERS, SARS2, Ebola and Marburg, according to Aikido. Using a computer modeling approach called SILCS from SilcsBio LLC, chemical compounds were identified that are predicted to bind to a pocket on a human protein in this complex, the company noted. "This is encouraging progress, demonstrating the importance of machine learning to accelerate pharmaceutical research. Legacy processes, involving manually testing potentially thousands of compounds, are slower and potentially more expensive. Utilizing a combination of a physics-based approach and machine learning, our partners are able to significantly narrow the range of potential compounds to test, accelerating efforts and significantly reducing costs. The ultimate goal is to create a new compound that blocks replication of a wide variety of viruses in humans that will be an effective drug for the treatment of known viral infections as well as those that may arise in the future," said Anthony Hayes, CEO of AIkido.

"In the last 2 months we have experienced a large and growing number of orders being placed on us with little to no lead time...The result of so many short lead time orders is that we are having to disappoint you with delivery dates that are later than what you want. Our unsupported backlog, defined as orders with a shorter requested delivery date than we can support ordinarily, has ballooned to one of the largest we have experienced," Sanghi wrote. Starting August 1, Microchip said it will not be able to accept any expedite requests without an associated expedite fee. 09:28 EDT VolitionRx holder Cotterford sends letter to company regarding vote results - Cotterford, the beneficial owner of approximately 26% of the outstanding shares of VolitionRX, sent a letter to the board of the Company regarding the voting results of Volition's 2020 Annual Meeting and the Company's path forward. "We believe in the significant long-term potential of the Company and the value of its scientific assets. Unfortunately, Volition has consistently failed to deliver on its promises, not least because of its refusal to articulate a clear path to commercialization, with tangible interim milestones, which has led to a culture of unaccountability. Adding insult to injury, when the Company has conveyed targets, it has repeatedly missed the mark. The voting results from Volition's recent 2020 Annual Meeting paint a stark picture of a shareholder base that is fed up with the Company's "jam tomorrow" mentality. Four of the six incumbent members of the Board received support from less than 50% of the outstanding shares, and one of them failed to obtain even a majority of the votes cast. This poor showing is even more striking given that these directors ran unopposed. Further, if we exclude the shares held by Volition's directors and management, these four incumbents were supported by fewer than 17.5% of the Company's outstanding shares. Shareholders also rejected both compensation related proposals - a non-binding advisory vote on compensation practices and the amendment of the Company's stock incentive plan... Lastly, we were delighted to see that the shareholders also rejected all the Board's outrageous proposals to dismantle shareholder rights... In our prior letter, we noted that we have lost confidence in the Company's current leadership. These voting results show that we are not alone. At this point, Volition faces a pressing call to action. The Board and management must heed these results and recognize that they represent a strong mandate for change. As noted above, we believe that shareholders' lack of confidence is driven by Volition's consistent failure to deliver on even the vaguest promises that management has outlined time and time again. We first purchased shares of the Company in 2012 and have been the largest shareholder of Volition for nearly two years... We believe it is critical that the Company has clear goals with associated targets and metrics for achieving these goals. We must see a shift towards accountability - which thus far has been lacking in an organization seemingly run by individuals who put themselves first, rather than shareholders. Case in point: while the Company has failed to produce any material revenue, payouts to President and CEO Cameron Reynolds and Executive Chairman Martin Faulkes have represented fully 7% of Volition's expenses over the last three years... We believe that shareholders will only be comforted by transparent, concrete and measurable timelines associated with Volition's pipeline of opportunities - and meaningful progress towards achieving those objectives. First and foremost, this should include specific timelines and paths to commercialization, as well as material revenue by the end of 2020. We fully expect that Volition will make announcements about any and all potentially positive news in the coming weeks and months - in an attempt to signal progress to the market. Ultimately, however, shareholders' confidence will only be restored if Volition achieves milestones that are truly meaningful and impactful on a reasonable timeline - and that create real value. We intend to closely monitor the Company's progress on these fronts and will take appropriate action to protect the best interests of shareholders if the Board and management continue on their existing path."

09:27 EDT Philips forms collaboration with BioIntelliSense to integrate BioSticker - Phiilips announced it has formed a strategic collaboration with BioIntelliSense, a continuous health monitoring and clinical intelligence company, to integrate its BioSticker medical device into Philips' remote patient monitoring, or RPM, offering to help monitor at-risk patients from the hospital into the home. With the addition of multi-parameter sensors, Philips' solutions can enhance how clinicians monitor patient populations living with chronic conditions in their homes with passive monitoring of key vital signs, physiological biometrics and symptomatic events via a discreet wearable patch for monitoring up to 30 days. Remote patient monitoring and telehealth-enabled clinical programs offer care teams a sustainable and scalable way to manage patient populations with chronic or complex conditions at home, and plays a role in supporting care for COVID-19 patients who do not require hospitalization. By regularly transmitting patient data that can provide critical insights into a patient's condition, the collaboration will empower care teams in the U.S. with a more holistic patient view and the ability to intervene earlier before adverse events occur. 09:25 EDT Square lower after Cowen downgrades on over 200% rally - Square (SQ) is trading lower after Cowen downgraded the shares to Market Perform from Outperform despite increasing its price target to $119 from $79. The stock in premarket trading is down 1% to $131.85. The greater than 200% rally in shares since mid-March has "more than priced in all the good news" from the Cash App business and does not discount enough the "multi-year recovery" the Seller business will need, analyst George Mihalos told investors in a research note. The analyst says a "generous sum-of-the-parts analysis" yields the $119 price target. Unlike digitally native financial technology companies like PayPal (PYPL) that are clear intermediate and long-term beneficiaries of COVID-19, the situation is "more mixed" for Square, contends the analyst. The company's Cash App customer acquisition and monetization are benefiting from the pandemic but its Seller business will likely require a multi-year recovery given "outsized" exposure to small- to mid-sized businesses, contends Mihalos. As such, the analyst see more compelling opportunities in other payments names, like PayPal.

Passengers were down 45.6% vs. June 2019, RPMs were down 45%, ASMs down 17.5% and load factor down 28.6 points. "We continued to see modest demand improvements throughout the month of June, building upon May's demand increases," stated CO Gregory Anderson. "Gross bookings for the month of June averaged more than $4M per day, bringing the average daily gross bookings for Q2 to over $2.5M. June's bookings exceeded our expectations, thus the average daily cash burn for Q2 was $900K, down from our previous forecast of $1.75M. However, within the last two weeks, several states have reported increases in the number of people with the virus, which has negatively impacted bookings and tempered expectations into Q3. Therefore, utilizing the average daily bookings from Q2 of $2.5M, we now expect daily cash burn will be approximately $750K during Q3. (...)". "During June we operated 70% of our schedule while increasing load factor by nearly 10 points from May to 57.3%," stated Drew Wells, vice president of revenue. "Capacity was down 17.5% for the month of June as compared with 2019, but peak day available seat miles actually grew 3.5% from prior year. (...) We expect to operate roughly 75% of our schedule into Q3 but will make any necessary adjustments as dictated by demand trends."

07:14 EDT Walgreens Boots Alliance reports estimated COVID-19 impact - Walgreens Boots Alliance said in its Q3 earnings release, "The adverse impact of COVID-19 on sales in the quarter was approximately $700 million to $750 million, with the majority of the impact related to the Retail Pharmacy International division. This reflected a dramatic reduction in footfall in Boots UK stores - down 85 percent in April - as consumers were advised to leave home only for food and medicine. While most Boots stores remained open throughout the UK lockdown to provide communities with pharmacy and essential healthcare, our largest premium beauty and fragrance counters were effectively closed. More than 100 stores, mainly in high street, station and airport locations, were temporarily closed as were nearly all of the 600 Boots Opticians stores. Globally, pharmacy volume was impacted by a drop in doctor visits and hospital patient admissions. Additionally, gross margin was adversely impacted by sales mix, with a shift from higher margin discretionary categories to lower margin categories, and by higher supply chain costs. The company took measures to keep stores open during COVID-19, incurring incremental selling, general and administrative expenses (SG&A), including higher employee costs and store expenses related to social distancing and incremental cleaning. As a result of these impacts, operating and adjusted operating income included an adverse impact of $700 million to $750 million, or $0.61 to $0.65 per share, excluding impairment charges. Furthermore, considering the third quarter operating loss in Boots UK and ongoing uncertainty due to COVID-19, the company reevaluated goodwill and intangibles in Boots UK, resulting in non-cash impairment charges of $2 billion."

07:10 EDT Altimmune enters teaming agreement with DynPort to coordinate U.S. funding - Altimmune (ALT) announced that it has entered into a teaming agreement with DynPort Vaccine, or DVC, a General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology, or GDIT, company, to coordinate U.S. Government funding efforts and, if successful, to provide program management, drug development activity integration, and regulatory support for AdCOVID, Altimmune's single-dose intranasal COVID-19 vaccine candidate. DVC has experience in vaccine development and as the prime contractor and systems integrator for the preclinical, manufacturing, clinical and regulatory activities needed to secure FDA licensure of new drug products. DVC has supported vaccines and medical countermeasures for emerging diseases and bioterror threats under contracts with the Department of Defense, the Biomedical Advance Research and Development Authority and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The partnership with DVC significantly expands Altimmune's capabilities to obtain and execute on U.S. Government funding opportunities to support the development of AdCOVID. Altimmune and DVC believe AdCOVID is an vaccine candidate to government funding agencies based on its product profile. Preclinical studies of AdCOVID are currently being conducted in collaboration with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and initial results from these studies are expected in the near term. The company expects to begin manufacturing of the vaccine candidate during Q3 followed by a Phase 1 clinical trial during Q4. AdCOVID is an intranasal COVID-19 vaccine candidate designed to guard the respiratory tract from viral invasion and to provide downstream protection against viral spread through stimulation of both mucosal and systemic antibodies as well as cell-mediated immunity. By stimulating mucosal immunity in the nasal cavity, a key point of entry and replication for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, AdCOVID has the potential to defend against both the infection and spread of the virus to others. AdCOVID's intranasal delivery method provides an easier route of administration than an injection and may eliminate the need for administration by trained medical personnel. In addition, since it is expected to have extended stability at room temperature, AdCOVID may avoid the need for cold chain logistics. Altimmune has two programs currently secured with non-dilutive government funding: NasoShield, a single dose intranasal anthrax vaccine candidate, which is being developed under a contract with a total potential value of $133.7M with BARDA, and T-COVID, an intranasal therapeutic for early COVID-19, which is being developed under a $4.7M contract with the U.S. Army Medical Research & Development Command. Both programs are based on the same replication-deficient adenovirus 5 platform as AdCOVID.

06:53 EDT Endeavour Silver produces 596,545 silver ounces in Q2 - Endeavour Silver reports production of 596,545 silver ounces and 5,817 gold oz in Q, for silver equivalent production of 1.06M oz at an 80:1 silver:gold ratio. During the quarter, mining operations were suspended on April 1st as mandated by the Mexican government to halt the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In late May, mining was deemed to be an essential activity by the Mexican authorities, which allowed mining operations to start up with health protocols in place. Endeavour had the advantage of having already put in place a rigorous coronavirus prevention and response plan and having built up ore stockpiles at each mine site. That enabled Endeavour to restart its operations, initially with plant personnel only, to process the ore stockpiles built up in Q1, 2020. Therefore, Q2 plant throughput was only down 52% and silver equivalent production was down only 42% compared to Q2, 2019. Management expects to update shareholders on its second half and full year production and cost guidance when it reports the Q2 financial results on August 6.

06:50 EDT Document Security: Impact Biomedical announces 'positive' results from Equivir - Document Security announced that its target acquisition company, Impact Biomedical, published results from its in-vitro testing with Equivir and Linebacker, its proprietary compounds, and 3F Biofragrance against COVID-19 in independent laboratory testing. Impact Biomedical and Global Research and Discovery Group Sciences, in independent Biosafety Level 3 containment facilities, challenged its compounds with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Equivir and Linebacker demonstrated in-vitro success as a treatment, as well as a prophylactic protecting the cells from infection by the virus. According to Impact Biomedical, 3F Biofragrance was successful as a surface disinfectant, killing the virus in concentrations as low as 1/5000 after 15 seconds in the invitro testing. These in vitro results confirm the predictions of advanced computational molecular docking in which Equivir and Linebacker bind with a high affinity to the COVID-19 helicase and protease. Equivir and Linebacker also caused transformational change in the host ACE-2 receptor, interfering with the virus' ability to interact and infect the host cell. The binding affinity of components of 3F Biofragrance were also observed during molecular docking.

06:40 EDT ChromaDex's Niagen shows anti-viral effect in new Coronavirus study - ChromaDex announced the latest preclinical findings indicating Niagen inhibits replication of a form of Coronavirus, the virus that causes COVID-19 infection, in mouse cells. The preclinical study results were published July 8 on scientific publishing website bioRxiv.org. The research previously demonstrated in a preclinical cell model that levels of the coenzyme NAD+ were depleted up to 80% in Coronavirus-infected cells. The researchers hypothesized that raising NAD+ levels with nicotinamide riboside, or Niagen, may have an anti-viral effect. These latest results confirmed their hypothesis by demonstrating that cell lines infected with a type of Coronavirus had decreased viral replication when supplemented with NR. Additional research is necessary to explore the role NAD may play in maintaining a proportional inflammatory response to infection, and whether a depletion of NAD may worsen the "cytokine storm" that results in the fatal acute respiratory distress syndrome seen in some COVID patients. Dr. Brenner and the team of scientists are continuing their investigations into the antiviral potential of Niagen in order to translate the findings from the lab to the clinic. Ultimately, clinical trials are required to determine whether Niagen impacts COVID-19 infection in humans.

Our diversified portfolio performed well and again demonstrated its resiliency. I could not be prouder of how our organization adapted quickly to navigate successfully in what is arguably the most challenging business environment most of us have ever seen. During the quarter we delivered consolidated net sales growth of 11.8% and adjusted diluted EPS growth of 22.8%. Our Health & Home segment led the way with sales growth of 29%. Beauty and Housewares both held up very well in the face of many store closures and the unprecedented level of unemployment and personal disruption due to COVID-19. Beauty sales grew 5% including Drybar. Housewares declined only 3% off of a year ago base that grew 23% year over year. International performance was a standout in the quarter, growing faster than consolidated sales. Sales for our Leadership Brands grew 15.7%. Online sales grew significantly to now represent approximately 28% of consolidated sales as so many of the world's consumers shifted more of their purchases from bricks to clicks." Mininberg concluded: "While we are pleased with our first quarter results, the net impact of the pandemic on our consumers and supply is still very fluid and uncertain and, as a result, we will not be providing fiscal 2021 guidance at this time. Despite the uncertainty, we are generally encouraged by the current trends and prospects for our business and are therefore using the strength from the first quarter to lean back in on many of the key initiatives chosen to further help us deliver on our Phase II Transformation goals. The Company also announced that the amendment of its EUA was approved by FDA to include extraction and concentration of the viral RNA by a magnetic method of nucleic acid extraction that lends itself easily to high throughput scaling with robotics and diversifies the two extraction methods already covered by the existing EUA. A series of EUA amendments are planned to introduce automation for increased throughput and accuracy, gain approval for additional RNA extraction methods and PCR devices to expand the footprint where our EUA assay can be used, develop point-of-care testing and simplify sample acquisition from patients."
