AAPL... | Hot Stocks19:31 EDT Fly Intel: Top five weekend stock stories - Catch up on the weekend's top five stories with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. A man armed with a rifle opened fire at a Walmart (WMT) store in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, killing 20 people and wounding 26 others, Reuters' Julio-Cesar Chavez reported. The suspect was officially identified as a 21-year-old white male named Patrick Crusius from Allen, Texas, the author noted. Less than 24 hours later, another gunman dressed in body armor opened fire in downtown Dayton, Ohio, killing nine people including his sister and wounding 27 others, Reuters' Steve Gorman and Kim Palmer reported. Police officers who were on routine patrol nearby arrived on the scene in less than a minute and shot the attacker dead, likely preventing a much higher casualty toll, police and the city's mayor said. 2. Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A, BRK.B) reported second quarter net earnings of $14.07B versus $12.01B last year, and second quarter operating earnings of $6.14B versus $6.89B last year. In its earnings release, Berkshire Hathaway said that, "As of August 3, 2019, Kraft Heinz's [KHC] financial statements for the first and second quarters of 2019 were not yet available to Berkshire." 3. Apple (AAPL) bulls swooned last week over the company's better-than-expected reported earnings and all it took was a return to revenue growth after two quarters of declines, Tae Kim wrote in this week's edition of Barron's. But investors should be careful in evaluating the shifting narrative as the long-term driver of Apple shares has been excitement about the company's services businesses, which remain a question mark and could still disappoint, the author noted. 4. Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" won the North American box office with $60.8M from 4,253 locations and opened to $120M overseas for a worldwide launch of $180.8M. The "Fast & Furious" spinoff received an A- CinemaScore and 67% no Rotten Tomatoes. 5. Best Buy (BBY), Target (TGT), Dick's Sporting (DKS), HP Inc. (HPQ), and Experian (EXPGY) saw positive mentions in this week's edition of Barron's.
