08:52 EDT Week in review: How Trump's policies moved stocks - Catch up on the top industries and stocks that were impacted, or were predicted to be impacted, by the comments, actions and policies of President Trump and his administration with this weekly recap compiled by The Fly: 1. AT&T/TIME WARNER DEAL: On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it is suing to block AT&T's (T) deal to buy Time Warner (TWX). Commenting on the news, AT&T's Senior Executive and General Counsel David McAtee II said the DOJ lawsuit is "a radical and inexplicable departure from decades of antitrust precedent." He added: "Fortunately, the Department of Justice doesn't have the final say in this matter. Rather, it bears the burden of proving to the U.S. District Court that the transaction violates the law. We are confident that the Court will reject the Government's claims and permit this merger under longstanding legal precedent." The following day, President Donald Trump, in response to a question at the White House from CNBC's Eamon Javers, said, "I'm not going to get involved in litigation, but personally I've always felt that's not a deal that's good for the country." 2. CNN: Earlier this week, The New York Post had reported that AT&T is supporting CNN head Jeff Zucker amid President Trump's consistent criticism of the news channel. John Stankey, senior executive VP of AT&T-Time Warner merger integration planning, told the publication that: "We don't comment upon anyone's employment at a company we don't yet own. But, as it relates to CNN, it's clearly a great organization, they are having a great year, and Jeff Zucker is doing a terrific job." 3. NFL: President Trump tweeted on Friday, along with a link to a story about an NFL player who kneeled during the national anthem: "Can you believe that the disrespect for our Country, our Flag, our Anthem continues without penalty to the players. The Commissioner has lost control of the hemorrhaging league. Players are the boss!" The national television broadcasters for the Thanksgiving day trio of NFL games were Fox (FOXA), CBS (CBS) and NBC (CMCSA). "Week in Review" is The Fly's weekly recap of its recurring series of "Trump Effect" exclusive stories.
