20:11 EDT Catch up on the weekend's top five stories with this list compiled by The Fly: - 1. Tesla has reached an agreement with Shanghai government to set up a manufacturing facility in the city, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. The arrangement could enable the electric carmaker to slash production costs, but without a local partner likely will not negate China's 25% import tax, the publication added. 2. Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has said he was willing to bring a healthcare bill up to vote, but was waiting to see what President Donald Trump wants to do, after he sent mixed signals regarding the bipartisan effort, according to Reuters. Publicly traded companies in the space include Aetna (AET), Anthem (ANTM), Centene (CNC), Cigna (CI), Health Net (HNT), Humana (HUM), Molina Healthcare (MOH), UnitedHealth (UNH) and WellCare (WCG). 3. Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOG; GOOGL) deserve a lot of the credit for last week's record stock market highs but their positive effect will now depend on how they respond to U.S. and European regulators, Tiernan Ray wrote in this week's edition of Barron's. European inquiries and those from the U.S.'s Federal Trade Commission have prompted speculation about the breakup of these companies, he adds. And it is not only antitrust issues that are in play, as many see the huge amounts of personal data that these companies are amassing as troubling, Ray contended. 4. Lionsgate's (LGF.A) "Boo 2! A Madea Halloween" ended its debut weekend in first place, with $21.7M from 2,388 theaters. The movie tells how Madea, Aunt Bam, Viv and Hattie take a vacation to a campground with their family members, only to encounter monsters, goblins and boogeymen. The movie earned an A- CinemaScore and got 8% from Rotten Tomatoes. 5. Coach (COH), DowDuPont (DWDP), Caesars (CZR), Delta Air Lines (DAL), American Airlines (AAL), Lufthansa (DLAKY), Samsung (SSNLF), and Morgan Stanley (MS) saw positive mentions in Barron's, while United Continental (UAL) was mentioned cautiously.

13:30 EDT Veracyte announces new data, highlights Afirma GSC performance - Veracyte announced that data presented at the 87th Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association show that the Afirma Genomic Sequencing Classifier's ensemble machine learning algorithms can effectively distinguish challenging-to-interpret thyroid cancer subtypes among thyroid nodules deemed indeterminate - not clearly benign or malignant - by cytopathology. The findings, shared in two oral presentations, show significant advances in identifying benign versus cancerous Hurthle cells and 100 percent accuracy in identification of medullary thyroid cancer in patients with indeterminate thyroid nodules. Earlier in the week, three validation studies demonstrating the performance of the Afirma GSC were presented as posters at the ATA annual meeting. Key findings include: the Afirma GSC's 100 percent sensitivity and 99% specificity in the detection of BRAF V600E; sensitivity and specificity of 100% each in distinguishing parathyroid from non-parathyroid tissue; and strong analytical verification data demonstrating robust Afirma GSC performance on thyroid nodule FNA samples with as little as 5 nanograms of RNA and in situations where contaminants such as blood are present.

13:19 EDT Study shows Merck Zepatier resulted in high sustained virologic response rates - Merck has announced the presentation of findings from a retrospective database analysis of patients with chronic hepatitis C virus genotype 1 or 4 infection who have chronic kidney disease and were treated with Zepatier - elbasvir and grazoprevir - in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system. Among patients who completed therapy, the analysis showed 95.6% of patients with severe CKD and 97.1% of patients with moderate CKD achieved sustained virologic response, defined as HCV RNA below the limit of quantification at least 10-12 weeks after the end of treatment. For patients with missing HCV RNA data after at least 10-12 weeks after treatment completion, analyses were conducted on a post-hoc basis using the last HCV RNA data available after week 4 after therapy completion. The response rates in the real-world setting of the VA further supplement findings from controlled clinical studies of Zepatier. In the U.S., Zepatier is indicated for the treatment of chronic HCV GT1 or GT4 infection in adults. Zepatier is indicated for use with ribavirin in certain patient populations. The U.S. Prescribing Information for Zepatier includes a Boxed Warning about the risk of hepatitis B virus reactivation in patients co-infected with HCV and HBV. In controlled clinical studies of Zepatier, SVR was the primary endpoint defined as HCV RNA less than lower limit of quantification at 12 weeks after the cessation of treatment. The retrospective observational analysis included 5,845 patients with chronic HCV infection who received Zepatier between February 1 and December 31, 2016. Patients were identified from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse, a national repository of VA electronic medical records.
